Brindavan Gardens (Mysore, Karnataka, India); Light & Sound Show With Musical Fountains (1.1.2013)

0 Brindavan Gardens (Mysore, Karnataka, India); Light & Sound Show With Musical Fountains (1.1.2013)Brindavan Gardens (Mysore, Karnataka, India); Light & Show With Musical Fountains (1.1.2013)

The Brindavan Gardens is a garden located in the state of Karnataka in India. It lies adjoining the Krishnarajasagara dam which is built across the river Kaveri. The work on laying out this garden was started in the year 1927 and completed in 1932.Visited by close to 2 million tourists per year, the garden is one of the major attractions near the city of Mysore.

Under the guidance of Sir Mirza Ismail, the Dewan (chief financial officer) of Mysore. As a part of beautification of the dam site, Sir Mirza Ismail conceived a plan of developing a garden in Mughal style with a design similar to that of Shalimar Gardens in Kashmir. The work on this garden was started in 1927. It was constructed in a terraced fashion and named Krishnarajendra Terrace Garden. The main architect for the park was G.H. Krumbigal, then Superintendent of Parks and Gardens of the Mysore Government.

The garden is maintained by the Cauvery Niravari Nigama (Cauvery Irrigation Department), a Government of Karnataka enterprise. It is spread across an area of 60 acres (240,000 m2). Adjoining it is also a fruit orchard spread across 75 acres (300,000 m2) and 2 horticultural farms, Nagavana (30 acres) and Chandravana (5 acres). The garden is laid out in 3 terraces which contain water fountains, Ficus trees, foliage plants such as Duranta plumaria and Euphorbia and flowering plants like Celosia, Marigold and bougainvillea. The garden is open to general public and an entry-fee is charged. The garden also has topiary works (sculptures of animals created by clipping shrubs), pergolas (shaded passageway covered by creepers) and gazebos. The main attraction of the park is the musical fountain in which bursts of water are synchronised to the music of songs. There is also a lake within the garden with boating facilities available for visitors.

The garden was renovated in 2005 with a cost of Rs. 5 crore. The renovation included sprucing up the musical fountain using a digitised system and repairs of dysfunctional fountains. In 2007, the Gardens were closed for a brief duration as a safety measure to avoid trouble related to the Kaveri water dispute.

In the year 2003-2004, the gate collection was Rs. 2.07 crores, which increased to Rs 2.69 crores in 2004-05 and Rs 4.3 crores in 2005-06. This revenue is shared between Cauvery Niravari Nigam and Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) in the ratio 3:1.

Lowes Raven MPV Lawn Mower Review

Posted in Lawn Mower on April 17th, 2013 by admin — 25 Comments

0 Lowes Raven MPV Lawn Mower ReviewI bought Raven MPV-710 Mower from Lowes in NC on Monday March 25th. In the video you can see me start and run it for the first time. After a very short time the blades shut off for to reason. I turned the mower off and back on. Started the blades again and the same thing happened after about 20th. I then let it run sitting still for 10 minutes. I was able to mow most of my small front yard before the blades stopped again. I parked it running, put it into generator mode and plugged a blower into it. It provides plenty of electrical power. I also put it into high gear and rode around the back yard with it.
The next day i let the mower run for almost an hour and i got about 8 minutes of mowing before the blades stopped.
Another problem I’ve had is sometimes after putting the Raven into neutral setting the parking brake getting off it to load the bucket and back on it won’t go. I’ve turned it off and back on and tried to move again and nothing. waited ten minutes and tried again and it worked ok.
I contacted Denver Global Products and got a response from them right away asking for my contact details. After providing my info I have not heard back from them again. I’m going to try to exchange it for a new one as i’m hoping it’s just a problem with my particular unit.

Update
The Denver Global Products tech came to my house to fix the mower. He could not figure out what was wrong with it but not without a valiant effort. So the mower at this time still doesn’t work. But to save me the inconvenience of having to borrow a trailer pack it up return it and get another he’s having one build and he’s going to bring it from the factory to my house to swap it out. He’s also going to test it out prior. I’ve never heard of a company go to that level of effort to make one customer happy.
So figures crossed I’ll have a working mower come Monday.
*I work with new technologies and I understand there will be little issues and bugs that arise. As long as the manufacturer makes the effort to fix them it’s ok with me.

Up-Update

Replacement mower arrived today and works fine. The blades never quit and it had plenty of power to ride up my hill without the blades slowing down at all. I will post some video tomorrow.
I suspect other problems could arise but I am pretty confident that Denver Global is committed to taking care of them when they do. Oh and they gave me a wall charger for the 12v battery. I heard that they are contracted to produce something around 23k mowers for Lowes…

Need advice with planning a trip to Europe?

Posted in Garden Fountains on April 16th, 2013 by admin — 2 Comments

Okay so in the Summer of 2015 Im going to Europe with my family- yes i know im planning the trip early but i am just soo excited!!
So Im hoping to go for around three months.
I’ve started researching places but the problem is theres so much to do in Europe!
I really like the sounds of London, Dublin, Paris, Rome, Id love to explore the French countryside, Milan, Venice, Florence, Cinque Terre, Lake Como, Vienna and possibly somewhere in Holland. Is three months long enough to see all of these places and explore them?
In terms of attractions I’ve looked into a few things. Im mostly wanted to see the scenery, art and culture and history of these places. And have a lot of fun!
Attractions I would like to see is:
The London Bridge
The London Eye
Madam Taussads
Picadilly Circus
Westminster Abbey
Buckingham Palace
The Eifell Tower
The Louvre
The Palace of Versailles
Van Goghs hometown
Monets Gardens
Trevi Fountain
The Colosseum
The Rialto Bridge
Gondala Rides!!!
The amazing architecture and history of Florence!
I’d love to walk the Cinque Terre!
I want to see the scenery in Austria and Sound of Music Locations
I want to go to Ireland for the Music
And my mum wants to bike ride around the scenic parts of Holland.

Does this sound like a good trip to you? Have you been to any of these places? Bonus points for personal experience!! Is there anywhere else you can recommend or anything to see i havent put down?

Sorry I know its a lot to ask..

Thanks!!
Oh and I’ve considered costs.
Ive got a part time job at the moment and a bank plan worked out with mum.
So yeaah icon smile Need advice with planning a trip to Europe?

Six countries in three months is approximately 2 weeks per country on average. You can certainly cover a lot of territory in that time. I’ve been to all of the places you listed and they’re certainly worth visiting. You’ll have a lot of time to refine your planning. Prices depend on exactly where you’re starting from, when you go, how long you stay, where you go and other factors you haven’t provided. People who backpack generally can get by for $100 per day staying in cheap hostels and carefully watching their budget (not including airfare). However, if you stay in hotels, it will cost you more. I usually spend 100 to 150 euro a night for a hotel just for myself. Prices for 2015 aren’t known at this point.

Here are some resources that can help you plan and check options and current prices for your trip (expect prices in the future to rise):

http://www.kayak.com/ – airfares & hotels; the explore function is useful for finding the less expensive places to fly into from your starting point. Tuscany is an entire region, not a town. The most convenient airports to fly into will be Pisa or Florence, but Rome or Bologna are also reasonable options.

http://www.skyscanner.it/ – particularly good for budget flights within Europe, but you can also use everywhere as a destination to do something like the explore option on Kayak. You may not need the airfares, but you can compare to the cost of the trains to get around. this one may be more useful for you.

http://www.seat61.com/ – a great train site with details about railpasses. It can be cheaper to buy individual tickets than passes. This site will tell you how to determine whether you’re better off with a railpass or individual tickets or some combination for your trip. It also details how to use the pass and what to avoid to get the best use out of a pass. Most high speed, international and night trains require reservations and will require you to pay a supplement when you use a railpass. You need to be aware that a railpass is almost always more expensive for trains here if you’re going to exclusively travel in Italy.

http://www.fsitaliane.it/homepage_en.htm… – You can get discounts on the fast Italian trains for purchasing in advance You could also take the slower regional trains for less, but that adds a lot of travel time and may require multiple train changes.
.
http://www.venere.com/ – hotels/B&Bs – prices for the same hotel can vary hugely depending on the season and what local events are going on. It will be cheaper to stay on one of the outer islands and take a vaporetto into the main part of Venice or to stay on the mainland in Mestre and take a bus/train between your hotel and Venice.

http://www.hostelbookers.com/ – hostels.

http://www.monasterystays.com/ – monasteries & convents that offer accommodations

You can also look into camping or couch surfing as cheaper alternatives for accommodations.

http://www.whatsonwhen.com/sisp/index.ht… – festivals, exhibitions and events

http://www.backpackeurope.com/ – information & advice

For sightseeing prices: check the websites for entrance fees for the museums & galleries you’re interested in. I spend anywhere between nothing and 40 euro a day depending on exactly what I go to see when out exploring. For food, I spend around 25 to 50 euro for a meal, but you can eat for less. A pizza is 8 to 13 euro and a panino or wrap is around 3 to 6.50 euro in many places. You can often get food at festivals at a relatively low price. You can also shop in the markets and put some meals together for yourselves. When I travel, I like to try the local specialties and the good restaurants.
